As a rookie dad, I’m always advocating that we have a natural birth baby. At least, in the ideal world, that would be the case.
Our baby boy is approaching 38 weeks now, and has not turned, and the doctor had suggested to have the baby C-Section, as we don’t know when the baby will turn. Also, my wife being rather small might have something to do with it. I don’t know. I don’t know why he’s breeched…maybe he loves the womb too much.
I always heard about doctors advocating Cesarean, because of the higher price we have to pay, but I wouldn’t like to believe it. Perhaps that’s a little bit naive but if I was a doctor and I suggested something to my patient simply based on financial grounds, I’d probably end up in hell over and over again. Some docs might have the good intention as well, as to not endanger the mother…in my case, because we had two large fibroids to deal with along with the pregnancy, the safety of the mother is UTMOST. That’s the priority, and not some idealistic preference to have my kid go through the vaginal canal. If I had my preference, my kid would come out able to play Bach and Beethoven.
Besides, I think we have a great doctor in Dr Kiren. She has been not just supportive, but she had invoked a sense of assurance and stability over us for the entire pregnancy period. We don’t have many experience with my gynaes or obst, but it feels right with her, and we’re comfortable with her.
So here you have it. A day before the birth of my first kid.
The whole week has gone by in a daze actually. Shopping for some last minute stuff, clearing out the work so I can be on leave next week; and generally preparing the home for the first boy in our family. Before you know it, 38 weeks have gone by since the time we jumped up and down the bedroom in joy after discovering my wife’s pregnant…the last mile is reached.
We also have a name.
